Mud House Specification

Bamboo In Place Of Steel Bars

Problems and Solutions
  • Organic compounds responsible for decay and degeneration of these bamboo bars are chiefly carbohydrates and protein. Carbohyrates and protein compounds are also responsible for insect invasion and its destruction.
  • To overcome the problem at least 4 years of matured bamboo is to be selected because pre-matured bamboo experiences early decay.
  • Boiling of split bamboo with degeneration preventive chemicals like wood tar, solignum or creosote oil under specific temperature and pressure, prevents its degeneration and gives it rigidity superior to steel bars by Increasing its stress and load bearing capacity.
  • This treatments also prevent the invasion of the insects and destruction caused by it.
  • Curing in water.
Advantages
  • Bamboo is much cheaper than steel bars and is abundantly available in India and elsewhere. Bamboo is reproducible and can be made available.
  • Its store may be made never ending, whereas national store of steel is on verge of exhaust.
  • Stress bearing capacity of bamboo bar is not less than steel bar.
Disadvantages of Bamboo
  • Bamboo is organic material. It suffers the natural laws of decay and decomposition.
  • Bamboo moots insect invasion which destroys it.
  • It is too early to confirm its durability.
Mud Instead of Baked Mud Brick

Problems and Solutions
  • Problems of mud of any form is the stress bearing capacity is negligible in comparison with the baked brick, due to its poor inter-molecular attraction.
  • After absorption disassociation of the molecules of the mud is greater in baked brick.
  • To increase its inter-molecular attraction and the decrease of its water absorption capacity the technology of ant-hill, bee-hives, and hornet nests was taken.
  • To fulfill the mission a search for naturally available cohesive compounds was undertaken.
  • Ultimately one such compound was found. A mixture of this compound with mud in the ratio of 2 parts to 98 parts by volume increases cohesive power beyond imagination.
  • This mixture makes the house very close to being waterproof. Thus the problem of weak resistance against rain, storm and flood was overcome.
  • Damage of mud walls by insects like ants, termites and rats are prevented through the use of turmeric powder combined with powders of Azadiracts Indica (Neem) and Nictanthes Arbertites leafs powder (Nishinda).
Advantages
  • Any form of mud which might be sandy loam or clay may be used and will be far less expensive than baked mud brick.
  • Hygienically sound.
  • Environmentally balanced.
  • Heat conductivity is less than with baked brick.
Disadvantages
  • Inter-molecular attraction of mud is poorer than baked brick, so it is less rigid.
  • Mud is more porous than baked brick, therefor water absorption causing molecular disassociation of mud lump is greater  than baked brick.
  • The resistance of mud built structure against rain, storm, flood and earth quake is much less than brick built structure.
  • Invasion of insects like ants and termites as well as rodents easily damages the mud-built houses.
Organic Gum In Place Of Cement

Trade Secret- Names of the naturally available organic compounds is proprietary.

Advantages
  • Naturally available gum (an organic compound) is mixed with mud to provide rigidity.
  • It is preferable to cement from the cost and hygienic stand points.
Disadvantages
  • Though quality and quantity required is minimum in comparison with cement, it's supply in nature may not be abundant.
  • Vast areas of land may be required for its cultivation.
