• Hammer away at the ends of the stems of fresh cut flowers and branches of flowering shrubs before placing them in a vase. This allows them to quickly draw up water.
  • To help your summer flowering bulbs survive the winter, dust them with medicated baby powder before storing them in old onion sacks for the winter.
  • Remove dead flowers from annual and perennial bedding plants. Possible sites of infection are removed along with the dead tissues, and the plants’ energy is directed to further flower production.
  • If you put 1 or 2 garlic cloves into your rose bushes, they will never be bothered by aphids or other insects.
  • To hold blossoms longer, spray cut flowers with hairspray.
